Lloyd Peters, founder of Perfect PC, reminisces about an experience that fed his desire to open a computer service shop:
My laptop computer would not power on. I thumbed through the Yellow Pages for a laptop computer repair company to take my computer to. I called a supposedly reputable local company for driving directions to its repair shop. It took me about a half an hour to drive there.
When I arrived at the shop, I got a frustrating response from the repair shop's service representative after I described my laptop's problem.
"Compaq laptop computers are junk!" he said in a condescending tone. "You would be better off just to trash it and go buy a new laptop computer."
This was not the answer I counted on after driving a half an hour to get to the laptop repair shop. I wanted a soltution to my problem, and I wanted the shop's staff to act like they deserved my money. Even if replacing my laptop was the solution, I should not have been treated that way.
Remembering this unfortunate experience, I started a company called Perfect PC. I promised myself that I would never forget that a customer shouldn't be treated the way I was. Treating a customer with respect and concern for their computer problem is first priority.
